Nick
Rivers Gutter Cleaning Services was a complete
pleasure to do business with. The good reviews here
led me to call to have my gutters serviced after
neglectful install of flimsy shields had produced
condos for birds and waterfalls and icicles on my
house. Recent heavy winds had left some large
branches on the roof too. Within an hour and a half
of arriving, Nick and his partner had the roof
cleared, shields removed, and gutters flowing
cleanly again. In their opinions, the shields were
pretty good quality, but had not been installed
correctly. Nick estimated even without the shields I
would never need gutters cleaned again. And though I
hope he is right, I will not hesitate to call him
again if ever needed. The before/after pictures
really illustrated the problem Nick was able to
resolve. |

informative and friendly. Would highly recommend

After
successfully ignoring my gutters at my old house, I
decided that the ones in my new (to me) house needed
them cleaned. This is because there where two spots
where the water was apparently building up, and
spilling over the top of the gutter... right above
the door. I searched on Angie's List and found that
this company had good reviews. When I looked at
their website, it didn't list my (Towson) area, but
on a whim, I called and they cover the area. And
fortuitously enough, they were actually doing
another job in Towson the following day, so I made
an appt. He arrived on time, early even. He was very
thorough and took before and after photos. He
pointed out a few problems, recommending moving the
extensions to facilitate drainage, and adjusted a
few problem areas. He cheerfully explained what he
was doing, and made recommendations. Since I was
home, I paid him right then, but I like that he was
willing to leave a bill if I hadn't been home. I
really like the idea of the before and after photos,
that show the work that was actually done., since I
couldn't otherwise see the actual work. |

We have NEVER been
able to get reliable gutter cleaning but found this
company through Angie's List and couldn't be
happier. Nick Rivers gave us general info over the
phone about pricing and told us what the charge
would be for our home and what their procedures are.
Other companies we called would not give us prices
until they were on-site and could provide an
estimate. We agreed that Nick Rivers could arrive
the next day, generally in the morning since we knew
we would be home tending to another project.
However, given our past experience with gutter
cleaners in general, we actually booked two
additional companies as back-up. Nick Rivers was the
first company to arrive, so they got the job. We
already knew their price was acceptable.
Traditionally they take before and after photos, and
we did receive our photos by email later that day,
but since we were present during the cleaning, we
felt that we did not really need photo confirmation.
Still, it was nice to see exactly what was forming
our blockages. During the job, Nick Rivers
discovered that one of our miter joints was leaking,
so they took time to dry the gutter and seal it with
silicone. They did not charge extra for this.
Several days after this cleaning, tropical storm
Hanna affected our area with almost 2 inches of
rain, and we had no issues with gutters or
downspouts. Nick Rivers sometimes works when
homeowners are not home, however, I feel we cannot
accurately attest to that since we were, in fact
home when they did the work. They spent about 1.5
hours total on our job. Our only concern was that
one of our downspouts has a long extension on it
that takes the water to the very edge of our
property. The extension is somewhat obscured by our
front flower garden, so maybe NR did not notice it.
After they left we did have to flush the extension
to remove the debris that had been washed down the
downspout during the cleaning. But all our major
trouble spots were clear and we feel they offer a
fair price compared to what we've paid in the past
for contractors that weren't nearly as thorough. |

We originally called a
gutter company we found in the newspaper and had a
terrible experience. Not only did they NOT complete
the job, the tiny bit they did do was absolutely
horrible. (Rest assured I will be posting something
about them). Needless to say we were really worried
about hiring another person to do the job. I found
Nick Rivers gutter cleaning by doing a web search
and found his website not only very informative, but
witty and professional. I figured he was worth the
call. I was right! He immediately made me feel
comfortable and patiently answered all of my
questions. I told him about our last experience and
he told me the story of how he started the company,
which was the result of a similar experience to ours
(although much worse). He told me although there was
nothing glamorous about gutters, but this was what
he loved to do. He wants to provide a service that
is over and above in every way except the price. He
promised to have the job completed within a few
hours and start 2 days from our phone conversation.
Nick showed up on time as promised and immediately
started to work. He took before and after pictures
of the job, cleaned up all debris, and even scrubbed
the inside of the gutters to their original color.
When he was finished he presented us with a write up
that included the linear footage of our gutters,
height of gutters from the ground and pitch of our
roof. This was also our invoice so it included the
estimate, final charge (which was the same...as
promised), and other pertinent information to the
job. Working with Nick was a welcome and refreshing
change from those "other guys" that only care about
the buck and not the quality of the job. I only wish
there were more people out there that have the same
integrity and pride in their work as Nick does. |

This guy is great! He
has a passion for cleaning gutters. He takes before
and after photos to show you what he did. He endured
wasps, cut overhanging branches, cleaned my severely
clogged gutters, and looked like he really enjoyed
doing it! All of this was for a flat rate that he
told me after only hearing the size and style of my
home. I'll be having him back seasonally for an
encore performance. |
